Situated on its own private 5000 hectares of BIG Game Reserve near the Kruger National Park and with the breathtaking famous Drakensburg Mountains on the horizon, Tshukudu is the ideal getaway where you can experience close encounters with orphaned wild animals, excellent viewing opportunities of the BIG 5, many other wild animals, an abundance of bird-life, and enjoy comfortable, air-conditioned accommodation.... 

 Tshukudu Game Lodge is a proudly, owner-run 3 star game lodge adjoining the Greater Kruger National Park. As one of South Africa’s most famous lodge for it's wildlife experiences, we offer our guests an unforgettable experience in game viewing, warm hospitality and delicious homemade cuisine. Consisting of 14 chalets, Tshukudu Game Lodge combines comfort with all the necessities including that African "touch". The open plan lodge, which is protected by elephant proof  fencing, almost naked to the eye, merges the lodge with its natural environment.

 Tshukudu Game Lodge is a sanctuary to Africa’s Big Five within it's own PRIVATE GAME RESERVE, with over 5000 hectares traversing of wilderness. Our highly skilled rangers and trackers guide guests in the early mornings and later afternoon / evenings, in open 4x4 game drive vehicle  or on foot to experience the wildlife that much more up close and personal. Tshukudu Game Lodge is also proud to be one of the first established lodges in Hoedspruit ... A labour of love for the Sussens family, where it has developed into a true haven for wildlife and a unique tourist destination over the past 30 years. 

Tshukudu is also well renowned for the re-introduction of orphaned animals to the wild, it offers guests the rare opportunity of interacting with animals on a special morning walk. 


The Main lodge Shaded beautifully by the natural habitat the lodge on arrival greets you by a large watering hole where many animals come to drink. The open planed reception area and lounge immediately make you feel relaxed. Each of the 14 Air-conditioned chalets/rondawels/ family units are private .. they are named after the raised and rehabilitated animals of Tshukudu and are surrounded by nature, giving that ultimate African wildlife experience of "living in the bush". Each chalet has its own patio area complete with comfortable chairs, which offer guests an opportunity to relax on their own, and absorb the beauty and tranquillity of the African bush

The Blyde River Canyon (meaning River of Joy)

This route takes one on a breathtaking journey through the mountains. Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world. On route one can stop at well know view points such as: Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window & various waterfalls. There is an entrance fee at the Potholes.

Blyde River Dam

Take a boat trip on the dam in a completely unspoiled most beautiful area. See the Tufa Falls and spot varies animals on the 1 1/2hour trip. Trips at 9am, 11am and 3pm. Ask the lodge to book for you.

Panorama Route 

(on the R532.) One can visit the following:

Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window. Visit these and various wonderful waterfalls such as The Bridal Veil Falls, the Lone Creek Waterfall and Horseshoe Falls, they can all be reached from the scenic forest track along the south bank of the Sabie River.. 

Sabie Valley Coffee 

Lunch and see how coffee is produced. Tours at 11am on Wednesdays, or by appointment. Also a shop where one can buy coffee and coffee related products and gifts.

Meet Jessica the Hippo 

Drive towards Hoedspruit and on the left take the turning to Essex Road, the sign for Jessica is also at this turning.

Bombyx Silk Farm 

Excellent place for lunch. Silk Tours (free). Only the second silk farm in South Africa. Gives one an understanding as to how the silk is used.
